It kills me not to know this but I've all but just forgotten
What the color of her eyes were and her scars or how she got them

He went to Paris, looking for answers
To questions that bothered him so
He was impressive, young and aggressive
Saving the world on his own
But warm summer breezes, French wines and cheeses
Put his ambitions at bay
Summers and winters, scattered like splinters
And four or five years slipped away

"He Went to Paris" -Church of Buffett, Orthodox -

Won't say I love you, babe
Won't say I need you, babe
But I'm gonna get you babe
And I will not do you wrong
Living's mostly wasting time
And I'll waste my share of mine
But it never feels too good
So let's don't take too long
You're soft as glass
And I'm a gentle man
We got the sky to talk about
And the earth to lie upon

Anyway, yes, a wonderful opener.

Hah. Just spent an hour sipping my Saturday morning coffee and reading through this thread. So good stuff in there. And I posted Townes' song back on 2015. So to make up for it:

One foot stands before the crib
the other by the casket
A question formed upon stilled lips
is passed on but never asked

I guess I believe that there's a point
to what we do
But I ask myself is there
something more besides you?

Thumbs up

The long and winding road...that leads to your door.

When I wake up to the sound of Music....

Heck, half the Beatle song lyrics. In My Life.

She put him out, like the burning end of a midnight cigarette.

Comes a time

Makes you wonder why they stopped here.
Wagon musta lost a wheel

You might say he found the key to every door."

Here I am 6 years late to the party with one that may have been mentioned before....

Cover Me Up

Jason Isbell

A heart on the run keeps a hand on the gun
You can't trust anyone
I was so sure what I needed was more
Tried to shoot out the sun
Days when we raged, we flew off the page
Such damage was done
But I made it through, 'cause somebody knew
I was meant for someone

I work while America sleeps,
I fly while America creeps.
Travelin' around from town after town
Just tryin' to make my ends meet.

I've had my share of broken dreams
and more than a couple of falls
and in chasin' what I thought were moonbeams
I have run into a couple of walls...
