Default Barrios Mangore, Agustin - Vals, Op. 8 No. 4

Just last week, we witnessed the 135th anniversary of the birth of Paraguayan composer and guitar virtuoso, Agustín Barrios Mangoré, and one of the most famous pieces that he wrote for the guitar is undeniably the Vals, Op. 8 No. 4 in G major.

As a kid, this simple tune was one of my most favourite pieces ever. I remember whenever I heard this piece, I would always get up, dance around, and sing the melody in my head. So when the opportunity arose to learn this piece, I had a tremendous amount of fun.

I first tried to record this piece when I was just 6 years old, but I only managed the theme at the time... 😅

and I had another go when I was about 10

but fast forward a decade and a bit, I still had lots of fun preparing this piece once more. Have a great week ahead!

Thank you for sharing more of your videos, Kevin!

I’m jealous, I don’t know because you played so well, but also because I never even heard this piece till I was 36 years old.

Excellent, I really enjoyed your performance! I am a huge fan of Barrios and this is one of my favorite compositions by him. I remember seeing John Williams perform it years ago and I was hooked.
