Default New Guitar Strap? But Impact Marks?

I'm looking for a new guitar strap, I really like the one linked below, but I'm concerned about the "conchos" as they state them. That is, the metal things. I had a strap with plastic buckles that marked the top of one of my guitars, so I'm reluctant. But it's so pretty. And they are on the outside so...I don't know. Am I just being paranoid or should I keep looking around?

Metal on a guitar strap is just saying doom to your guitars’ finish no matter how much you want to convince yourself otherwise. Been there, done that. Expensive or not, there are thousands of straps out there that have no danger to guitars.

Agreed. Also....how do you know they are ONLY on the outside? How do they attach them (all the pics on their site show just the "outside")? How does that protect the instrument? Is it worth the risk? To you...who knows. To me...no way.

I won't use a strap with any metal on it for your same reason.
Lots of other great choices out there.

Sounds like a consensus. All leather it is! Thanks for the advice.

yea the look cool until they aren't cool.

watch out for the ones also with the plasticy ribbed edges, those can dent the heel what the straps hit the finish

Suede or soft brushed leather are the only I really trust.

I think people fret over it too much.

I'm reasonably careful with mine and have had no issues. I'm doing three to five gigs a week at this time of year, and have not one mark from my brass buckled straps. I don't let anyone else handle my guitars as a rule, when the straps are on even more so.

Nope, you are not being paranoid.

Yep, keep looking.
