Default NHL Offseason thread

What's peaking your hockey interest?

* Sad to see Duncan Keith retiring (3 Cups, 2 Norris, 1 Conn Smythe, 2 Olympic Gold)
* Kris Letang resigns with the Penguins!
* Marc-Andre Fleury signs with Minnesota for 2 years.
* Surprised to see Shane Wright drop to 4th in the draft. He was projected to go #1.

Well to reflect a bit of a local bias, there's a lot of chatter about the Rangers dealing for a C2 with Winnipeg - Dubois or Schiefele. They'd finally be quite strong down the middle.

LA Kings trade 1st round pick (#19) and defensive prospect Brock Faber (#45) in 2020 draft to the Minnesota Wild.
Kings receive rights to Kevin Fiala (restricted free agent).
Kings sign him to a 7yr. $55.125 million deal.
Their plan is to team him on the line with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe.
Good move. Kings didn't touch their minors system. Faber was a sophomore at the University of Minnesota this year.

Time flies, I watched Duncan Keith play Junior A with the Penticton Panthers before going to play at Michigan State.

Avalanche trade 3 picks to the Rangers for Georgiev, Kuemper will hit the market for a payday. Is it too soon to hope for a Rangers / Avalanche matchup in the 2023 finals?

Kadri's next.

Mrazek was a terrible signing for the Leafs. They're lucky they could unload him. Leafs receive the 38th pick in this year's draft for the trade.

I think both Toronto and Edmonton need a starting goaltender in order to make that big jump in the playoffs.

I read that, lol. For those who don't know, the Canucks also have a player on their roster with that identical name, Elias Pettersson. I wonder how they'll differentiate them, perhaps a middle initial? You need a differentiator for stats, etc. Jersey number isn't enough for that.

Devils fan here wishing the Habs didn't draft Slaf, but happy we won the lottery and drafted the best D in the draft.

We are finally going to be a good team again

Remember when the Canucks had 2 x Greg Adams.

I had Devils season tickets the first year they were in the Prudential Center, back in 2007-2008. I miss Brodeur.

Do you think PK Subban will be sticking around or will he get traded? His 3 seasons with the Devils haven't been that great.

You're right, Dru. For his 3 years in Jersey Subban has averaged 20 pts and -15 for $9M per. He's not a sexy name anymore but he's (only) 33 years old and still dangerous on the PP. Don't know if NJ is willing to pick up some of his salary this year if he goes but that team is building the Lamoriello way - letting the kids struggle and grow together - and they're gonna be good with or without him.

I'd like to see PK get another chance on a better team. I think he was overhyped in Montreal and it was a mistake offering that huge contract to him but I like the guy and he does great charity work. A very likable person.

Im very interested to see what Steve Yzerman can accomplish. He is a legend in Detroit , and the fans will give him many chances. Still, he needs to show progress, and approach what his playing rival, Joe Sakic, has done .
