What’s not so immediately apparent, is that amplifier sounds better with the good looking wood treatment. Not because of the wood per se, but simply because it looks like it should be producing a premium sound. And the listener expects to hear a better sound from that amp, than from my otherwise identical dog-chewed version. And that’s what they hear.

That's absolutely beautiful. My loudbox mini is pretty well beat up. Maybe I'll try something like that.
