List of CF/Composite Guitar Builders
How many companies make CF/composite guitars now?
It just dawned on me that I can no longer quickly list the composite builders in my head quickly anymore. I came up with 10 builders for acoustics, but I seem to recall there was one to three others that were trying also. Those were mentioned when first discovered, discussed briefly, then buried in the forum archives somewhere. If you have a good memory, I'd be interested to improve the list. The world is beginning to change quickly. Acoustics Now 25 Electric Now 28 [List undergoing revision / reformatting] Last edited by ac; 10-15-2021 at 01:18 PM. |

You can add Rubato to the electric list - a recent newcomer.
And Hathaway, a UK maker, also electric. And don't forget McPherson for acoustics!

Is Viktorian still in business? Couldn’t find much recent on them anywhere.

I think the OP is looking for current makers, not everyone who’s ever built CF guitars...
And Schecter? All I can find is reference to them using CF for binding on some electrics...

I probably won't add the Schecter as I didn't see any CF on their site now.
As to all others, past or present, I'm first compiling the list in total, and then can sort it out later as to what is still being produced. A nice history as well as practical list. I may stop soon on the electrics. Seems there have been many, many who have started companies that never made it past a couple instruments, then never continued. Lots of photos of these instruments and a few remaining websites--but all dead. I should add the French acoustic company but can't recall their name. They came very close to shipping to McNichols before they disappeared. |

AC;
Really nice list. I think the French company was called something like Voyage Instruments--but I'm not sure. I do remember the French company's instruments were quite beautiful with a sense of style that was way ahead of its time. |

Thanks J.R. & Evan.
We are closing in on 20 companies for each category. List is not perfect and if there are comments or suggestions, they'd be appreciated. I should have added the country name behind each from the start. I'll try to fill that in later. I could have/should have added another "other" stringed instrument list for just ukuleles, violins, cellos, mandolins, etc. and will do that if I receive any entries. For odd lists like this, a group effort is much better than if done by just one person. Thanks for everyone's help. |

Quote:
Is there an agreed-upon definition of what would qualify as a ‘composite’ guitar?
