Default Zoom H2 + pick-up

Can I record a separate track from my Baggs M1 pick-up into the Zoom H2 (at the same time as, but in addition to the built-in mics)? Can the Zoom
H4N do that?

H2, no. H4n, yes.

Thanks Fran. I just managed to find in the H2 manual that the internal mics are shut off whenever anything is plugged into the "mic" jack.

With the H4N can you blend the internal mic recording with the pick-up signal recorded (on a seperate track) at the same time (via the "mic" jack)? Can you do the actual blending with the H4N?

To expand the question further, can you add a 4th track (say, an external mic) and blend that as well on the H4N unit?

Like the H2, the stereo 1/8" jack replaces the built-in mics. But You can record using the XLR connections and internal mics/stereo mic jack at the same time. And you can plug a 1/4" guitar plug into the XLR-1/4" combo jacks. You can mix and overdub on the H4n.

Here's the Zoom forum: http://zoomforum.us/viewforum.php?f=15

You can find links to the H4n manual here, along with lots of discussion of these devices.
