Default Adding Second Mic to Boom

Hi. I have a mic stand with boom, and want to hang a second mic off the boom arm to record acoustic guitar in stereo (with mics about 18 inches apart).

I can't find a boom with 2 mic attachment points, or a suitable clip or clamp to attach to the boom arm.

Has anyone found a simple solution to this? My solution of sticky tape is not going to last too long!

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Ed.

Several ways to skin this cat.

I like to use multi-mic "bars" to create mic arrays.

wide and flexible:

sturdy and well made:

A mounting system, expandable:

Very flexible and sturdy:

Using these can be enhanced with a coupler that gives a variety of angles:

And these folks also make a "bar grabber" with a posilock clutch:

That last item might be the one you're looking for.

Hi, Fran.
Thanks for the comprehensive list of options. My first thought was the same as yours - the On Stage sidemount looks ideal. I am currently trying to locate an Australian source.
Your advice is really appreciated. Thanks, Ed.

Hi, Fran.
Have bought the On-Stage Posi-lok side-mount as you suggested. It is heavier than expected, but is just the shot for the second mic.
Thanks for your guidance!

Two thoughts occur to me. I generally use my clamp-on on the main stand rather than the boom. And be sure your boom is arranged so it tightens rather than loosens when the mic end starts to droop.
