Thanks for the kind words. She had fun. It was her first time (ever) singing in front of an audience. So I was happy she went through with it. I’ll just keep encouraging her. Thanks also about the sound. It’s nice to have confidence that a setup will work for you. You can put your mental energy into the music and not the gear.

I have been pretty happy with the Shure MV88 for recording. The way it works with their app is great for recording. The problem is setting levels going straight into the Zoom app.

I doubt I'll use the analog compresser for recording. I'll use the heck out of it for Zoom and Facebook Live though!

Okay I got the Hype mic, it’s a beauty but I plugged it into my iPhone made a couple test recordings and it doesn’t record. The lights on the mic all work and it seems to be hooked up properly, but there must be a setting somewhere that turns on an external mic but I can’t find it. What am I doing wrong ?? Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

If it was an Android phone I would tell you to try a recording app that supports external USB mics like Open Camera or Filmic Pro, but with an iPhone it is just supposed to work.

You don’t by chance have two camera or audio apps open at once do you?

No... the mic appears to be working in garage band and the Shure MOTIV app but doesn’t playback. I’m going to try a different iPhone later.

The internal mic works fine with the video camera app.

Aha found the problem, as long as the mic is plugged in the cell phone thinks it’s headphones, disconnect the mic cable and playback works fine in all apps..... YAY !!!!!!

Well the positive is that the HypeMic sounds really wonderful with my iPad. The negative is that I can't make it work at all with my OnePlus 7 Pro Android phone.

I found the same situation with the Shure MV88+ and my iPhone 11Pro. Using the headphone jack on the mic itself (and I see the HypeMic has that, too) works fine.

Well, I finally have the HypeMic working with my OnePlus 7 Pro phone!

Edit: I am no longer sure of my conclusions in the rest of my former post, so I deleted that part.
