The blue purflings look awesome--really like that look!

Can't see the pics of the top and bracing yet.....

Looking forward to seeing this one as it develops!

How do you feel about Moon Spruce tops in comparison to Carpathian, German, Italian, and Swiss Spruce tops?

In my experience, Italian is the one that provides the most "Engelmann-like" tone in terms of smoothness, yet with the added crispiness of Adirondack when strummed. German and Swiss in my experience have been "tight" sounding and brighter, more "bell-like" but not as much smoothness. Carpathian, whilst having that Engelmann-like tone, like Engelmann, seems to break up easier when strummed. Those are my limited experiences with guitars by Bourgeois and Martin, would be very interested in your views and wealth of experiences.

So the box is all closed up, bindings and purflings have been completed. I'm really pleased with how clean that moon spruce top is!

Here is the Honduran mahogany back. I really like the light hints of beeswing figuring - adds a nice texture to the wood. Can't wait to see how it will look under finish!

To be honest, if blind folded I don't know if I could tell you one from the next... at least, not with a ton of confidence. While there are general 'rules' that apply to each of them, they all can vary and each top should really be judged on its own merits, rather than country of origin alone. I asked for a light and super responsive top.. so between the wood choice and their voicing process I'm sure they'll nail it.
The thing I love about European spruce in general is the added presence of harmonic overtones. That, paired with the strong fundamentals mahogany is known for should produce quite a full voiced and fingerstyle appropriate instrument.

That’s really fine Matt. It’s going to look gorgeous under finish and sound terrific when completed.

Smile Yum!

That Mahogany is as pretty as the Moon Spruce top!

I love the light color. Is it going to stay light or get stained darker?

Mighty sweet

The FS model has the same aesthetic that the traugptt model R has which makes it the most elegant steel string guitar design extant in my book. If it sounds anywhere near to how good a model R can sound, you have certainly got a winner.
