No favourites, depends on what music I'm playing and my mood
  • 1961 ES-175D for Jazz
  • 1962 Strat for many things except jazz
  • 1978 Ibanez Musician MC400NT when I want to explore a range of sounds or get massive overdrive from the built-in EQ boost
  • 1980 Ibanez AS200 for jazz or blues
  • 1986 Charvel Model 4 when I want to play with a whammy bar that is much smoother than on the strat
  • 2012 Peavey Omniac Jerry Donahue for the tele sound and lots of bending
  • 2016 Ibanez 2619 Artist Prestige for many different styles based around (mostly) humbucker sounds, but the single coil setting on both pickups takes me very close to the 1961 Strat
  • 2018 Gretsch g5220 Electromatic Jet, when only the Gtetsch "crunch" will do.

One electric that is definitely under the radar is the Ovation VXT. Two Seymour Duncan humbuckers and a piezo bridge, in a chambered body. Hamer build quality, has an ES-335 vibe, and was designed to feel familiar to Ovation acoustic players.
I grabbed one about a year ago.

i see the les paul, strat and tele most often mentioned as some kind of standard- i play my friends gibson les paul standard a good bit and really dont like it, he has epiphone 339 also, he's some kind of gibson freak but always complains about never getting the sound he wants, i have a strat- though its a partscaster, its a nice strat build, my tele is from a kit, but has fender tele pickups on it, both are nice and i enjoy playing them, but my downright favorite guitar is a squier modified 51- it has a hot single coil for the neck, and a split coil humbucker for the bridge- basically its a 5 way selector and quite a tone monster, very comfortable with the strat body and the tele neck being the action and feel i like

This is my favorite:

Gretsch G5420TG with Chet Atkins Bigsby arm and D'Addario ECG25 Chrome flat-wound strings. Paired with my Bugera V22 Infinium amp the sound is great. It's also the easiest guitar to play that I've ever owned. In fact, playing this has improved my picking accuracy with both flatpicks and fingerpicks.

Personal preference but I choose a Strat. Well, a Strat copy.
Stylistic choice is very much a part of it. I'm with you though and primarily due to ergonomics, have always been more of a Strat fan. My stage guitar for years was a Strat, and then got replaced by an Ibanez JEM, which is just basically a super-Strat.

I've posted about this one in the past:

A Don Grosh Retro Classic Vintage T. Basically a Tele style with a tweaked body shape and contours.

One of the finest guitars I've ever held or played. Impeccable neck setup (some of the best fret work on any guitar that I have played), Fralin Vintage Tele style pickups, one piece swap ash body, and a thin nitro finish.

I don't play electric much these days, but when I do, this is the guitar I grab.

I really like the look/color of that vintage tint neck. I'm not familiar with Don Grosh so I just checked out his website. Some great guitars! How did you come to hear about him?

Any of these. I was purely an acoustic player for many years. Now playing electrics primarily.

Before getting into acoustics, I hung out on The Gear Page (still visit regularly). You can find info on a number of the boutique electric builders there.

Plus, I had an acquaintance that had one of his S style guitars.

Stratocasters are wonderfully comfortable to play. The ubiquitous rock guitar. Jazzmasters, the last few years, have really taken off in popularity. They too are very comfortable and just ooze cool.

I kinda hate to admit it, but it seems all of my guitars are electrics these days
