Default D’Addario NYXL strings

For years I have been using string sets with a 10-46 gauge. Recently I played a friend’s Strat with 11-50 and realized what I was missing. I bought two sets of NYXL 11-49 and put some on my Brondel Sonic Blue Strat. Great sound that stays in tune, the tension is just right and the band agrees that they sound better.

Anyone else tried or using these strings!

nyxl1149 is the strings Collings uses on their electrics, and my favorite string anyway.
I found a 5 pack for 42.50 shipped couple weeks ago. Good deal (reverb).

Great strings indeed. I have went back and forth between NYXL’s, Elixir, and even S.I.T.

For me, all are very useable. But, NYXL’s are my go to’s.

I use hybrid NYXL string sets (high strings are from a light set, bass strings are heavy). From everything I’ve tried in my electric guitars, this is what pleases my ears and hands the most.

Also, not sure if these NYXL sets have any sort of coating, but they seem to last forever without showing signs of rust

I love NYXL.
Currently, I use 10-46. I might give the 11's a try, but In the past, I've had difficulties playing a 4 hour bar gig with 11's.

Hi Matt,
I’ve been using the D’Addario EXL-145 set .054-.012 with unwound 3rd on my Tele and Slab Strat.

It’s so nice to have electrics that feels like my Flammang!

Regards,
Howard Emerson

Same here. They feel great at first, but at concert pitch they gradually wear my hands down. Bummer, as I like how they feel and I do get better tuning stability with them (G string in particular). I like .011s tuned down a half-step, but I don't play everything tuned down.
