That Darlene is one bad momma !
I’m hoping for a Darlene/Ruthie face to face confrontation in Season Three. That would be awesome!

We've been enjoying it. We're slowly working our way through Season 2. As mentioned above, Jason Bateman is great.

One of the Season 1 episodes has a little bit where the special needs guy who works at the bar (Tucker?) continually plays Bob Seger's "Still the Same" over and over on the jukebox.

In a later scene, Bateman is laying in bed while his wife is getting undressed and he very quietly starts reciting lyrics from the song to himself.

God, I rolled. My Lady and I cracked up so hard. Just a subtle little bit of business, but it's things like that which make a show comprehensively human and entertaining.

I really like the way the writers have developed Wendy’s character over the series. Laura Linney does a great job of portraying this character. Her solution to dealing with a big problem in the finale of Season Two was a 180 from the Wendy character in Season One/Episode One, that’s for darn sure! Lots of strong willed women in Ozark and I think that is a large part of its appeal.
And let’s not leave out female Mafia attorney Helen Pierce played by Janet McTeer. Don’t even cross her or even think about it! 😂

I'm legitimately frightened by that character!

I’m so frightened of her I’m on my very best behavior when she’s staring back at me on my flatscreen. Don’t EVER make her ask you “Do we have a problem?” 😱

Yeah all the women in that show are complete savages. Great acting by all too.

Yup, another hard case as well that one. Btw, correction on the attorney character Helen Pierce. Meant to say she was representing her “client” as she calls them, the Navarro cartel, not the Mafia. Don’t you love the way she stares people down when things aren’t going the way the cartel wants them to go down and she coldly says with those dead eyes of hers glaring at you: “Arrangements will be made.” 😱😱😱😱 Don’t mess with Helen.

Wendy just scored big points with the cartel lawyer for getting the casino through, and is enjoying her new found power. Third season could be an interesting power struggle between Wendy and Marty...wonder which one is more useful to the cartel?

Darlene and Ruthie are both unpredictable wild cards that are driven by emotion and tradition.

The show is definitely doing some gender bending with the women playing powerful roles and two tough guy FBI agents and Ruthie's redneck uncle being gay...not that there's anything wrong with that....(Seinfeld reference...)

Suspect you may be correct architype regarding Wendy’s looking good in the eyes of the cartel for getting the casino through when no else could and they had virtually given up. Wendy’s role definitely could supercede Marty’s, but Marty’s skill at money laundering may save him in the end. Speaking of money laundering, Ozark is putting on a real clinic in that nefarious endeavor. I’m learning a lot about money laundering!

Yeah, Breaking Bad made an attempt at money laundering when they bought the car wash, but it was impossible to funnel that much cash through one business and not look suspicious. Marty is spreading it around through several businesses, and a casino is a perfect place for laundering large sums of cash.

I enjoyed Season 1, but they took it to a whole new level this season. Really smart writing and great acting too.

Agree PV, Season Two a quantum leap over Season One. Can’t wait to see what Season Three offers up. The writers left many threads dangling in the Season Two finale, none of which I will mention lest I mess up someone’s viewing fun who hasn’t seen that episode yet. Suffice it to say that the afore mentioned dangling threads leave much to be dealt with and resolved in Season Three. Should be a humdinger!
