Anybody Shop On Amazon Prime?
My sister was raving about it at Christmas but I didn't pay much attention until I was looking to buy something no dealers had in stock but Amazon did. Got that item for much less than dealers offered and they shipped it in two days for no charge.
I've since bought several other items and have always been pleased. They seem to have great deals on bigger ticket items but smaller items can be 2 or 3 times the price a store would charge. Sometimes, this is OK if you don't want to buy much but do want it in a hurry. Last week, I ordered a 800 C.I. sling pack from them, a brand I never heard of, but it was quite nice and only cost $17 with free two day shipping. Liked it so much I ordered a couple of add on pouches for $10 a pair they shipped in 1 day. Haven't explored all the items they offer but I do find myself checking their site when I am considering something. |

I got my first Prime membership for a Christmas present in 2015. They do not have everything I could want but they have a bunch of it. I would not order a guitar from them as I have no idea where they are stored or under what conditions. I have ordered clothes, kitchen items, and most recently a ribbon for an old Royal manual typewriter. No more running from store to store or making a dozen telephone calls looking for something. Gotta love it!

I've had Amazon Prime and shop with Amazon for almost 10 years now. It's great.

Simple economics. Big-ticket items have more profit attached. You can sell it for less profit if you can make up for it by selling 10x as many with the exposure of Amazon. Conversely, small items have very little profit, especially after paying Amazon's cut so the "free shipping" has to be added in to the price or the seller goes broke. Remember there is no "free" anything.

They show me as a customer for several years. I recall buying some gift item from them years ago. When I went to buy a Fenwick rod from them this year, they offered a free trial of Prime. Figured I'd just cancel after the trial but I keep finding deals that save me more than the membership costs. Just on the two Fenwick rods, a Daiwa reel and ABU reel, I have saved a year's membership over what I would have paid at a dealer.

It also must have been on sale as the pack in the photo shown above is now $25.24. I would grab one at $17.

Yes, but less or at least not accelerating the pace we were.
I'm not always finding the best values. Other sellers have upped their game. For work and tech stuff as an example, CDW has a $75 for shipping on most orders. My CDW portal has a team of 32 people with a whole lot of expertise and services Amazon doesn't have. A lot of things we buy repeatedly are less than Amazon. Personally I use some independent sellers with Amazon stores. One good one for bike parts has their brick and mortar location near me.

Don't forget to take advantage of Prime Video and Prime Music that's included with the membership.

I tried a membership for free shipping—and now use it for streaming videos (and for free shipping).
I use it often, not just because of the deals. It’s a time saver. I’m already the person who did most shopping through catalogs rather than going to the mall, fighting traffic, parking, etc. Brick and mortar stores are feeling the impact of online commerce. So are state taxes.

Look for the brand G4Free. Paid $16.99 on Saturday. Identical to photo.

Not since Wayfair. I mean, technically, not all states are collecting yet, but now they legally can.
I buy local when possible, but it's rarely possible in a town as small as ours. We've been using Prime since it launched over 13 years ago. As a longtime Amazon seller myself, I'm exceedingly picky about which third parties I'll order from, though.

I've read that lately, increasingly, you can get counterfeit items when Amazon lets orders get filled by 3rd party entities.
If you search for product X from company X you may get listings that say product X from company X compatible. The less-alert among us may not notice that key term, compatible. Buyer beware. I don't have Prime because I don't buy enough to make it worth it, and I'm not comfortable with yet another mega-data-collector getting and using my personal spending info. That all creeps me out. |
