I don't think there's too much surprise here? Georgia could have also been included in the conversation.
I know this isn't cool to say but I agree with the current 4-team system. I can't think of a team that I think is better than all four of those teams. Most of the arguments I hear are for the last spot or two, not the whole field. To me, that says there is a high probability that the best team in college football is in this group.

Unless you shorten the regular season, expanding it to 6 or 8 teams just draws out a season that is already pretty brutal for these young guys.

Another option is to go the other way and just make the entire season a playoff. Lose the first game and you're done for the year.

Maybe I’m a little naive here, but what is so political about the Heisman?

Hey, your entitled to your opinion too.
A lot of folks including me would disagree with you though. Personally, I think Georgia and Ohio State could both beat Clemson and Notre Dame, especially Notre Dame who I believe Clemson will crush. Sorry Irish fans, I just don't see it happening for you.
The system we have is what we have and it's arguably imperfect.
Rose Bowl bound...Go Buckeyes!!

I agree with you. I think it would be nice to expand the teams but then you're adding another week to the playoff schedule - I know this isn't a popular thought but don't these guys have to study sometimes? If they could find the time it would be great to see 8 teams in but I don't think it's practical.

Dru, it's been done for years in the other lower Divisions of college football.
Sadly it's about the big money that would be lost in the major bowls and that's it in a nutshell.

I don't disagree with you but what about the other two teams?

Well, it will be interesting to see if 'Bama can slow Oklahoma's offense down.
There is not much doubt in my mind Oklahoma won't be able to stop 'Bama's offense at all.

Uh, OU defense is engaging a secret weapon for Bama, we don't even know what it is....! It will be fun to see two Heisman candidates in the same game. Boomer Sooner!

Urban Meyer stepping down as coach of Ohio State after the Rose Bowl. Guessing it's related to his medical issue. He's had a great run at OSU.
