I have found a pinless bridge which seems to be made as replacement for Ovation guitars.
It looks ok but I´m a bit uncertain if I should use it on a red cedar top.
I would glue it with fish glue.
It would save me some work making one myself.
The two holes are for screws fastening with washers going through the
top, maybe into a hardwood plate below. Seems to be a bit antique.
Or is that necessary?
Too bad that the bridge saddle is not in two parts.

Default A thought

I just installed a bridge that looks a whole lot like the one pictured. I filled the two holes with MOP disks and never thought that the openings could have allowed for bolts. Seems to work okay. Learn something every day.

I will glue that pinless bridge to the red cedar top without any screws or bolts.

Which kind of glue would be best?

I have had good experiences with fish glue.
I have a bottle of liquid fish glue based on an old Canadian recipe that becomes very firm.
I don't know if it's better than titebond but I guess.

Or does someone have another idea or suggestion?

Titebond or hide glue are my go too's. On a cheap top with a lot of tear out, I will occassonally use an epoxy

Yesterday I wrore an email to George Lowden what glue would be good for a pinless bridge to a red cedar top.
The answer was : Hi viento,
We use titebond as we find it is incredibly reliable over time. Hope this helps!

I´ll think about that...

I'm on the side of thinking pinned bridges would offer at least some resistance to bridge lifting.

And as BlueStarfish mentioned, it can be convenient to loosen the string a little bit and pop the pin out.

But at the same time i'd be lying if I said I don't like the look of some pinless bridges.
