Default NUGD - J45 Standard

My quest began over a year ago when i became smitten with a Taylor 717 when they were first released. I played one in store and snatched it up. I spent the better part of the last year trying to get a good feel for it, convincing myself it was a great guitar and the issues were on my end. I just couldn't get the sound i wanted and the guitar always felt stiff. I eventually decided that it wasn't going to happen so i sold it and cut my losses.

A few weeks back in my local store i came across a Gibson L-00 Studio that caught my eye and figured i would like a smaller guitar to sit out back and play. Well that lasted for about three weeks and i just missed the sound of a bigger guitar (plus i have a 00-18) for the small bodied stuff.

I contacted my store and they welcomed an exchange. I went in and spotted a 2013 J-45 on the way up rack and asked about it. It had just come in on a trade a few days ago and had barely hit the floor. I took it for a test run for about an hour and was hooked. The store was great to work with and i cam out even so i can't complain there. The guitar is in near perfect condition save for some pick wear from a wayward strum. Anyways if the last two hours on my back porch are any indication i should be very happy in the coming days.

send the pics to yourself in an email, open that email, right click on the picture and "save as" to your computer. go to your post and click "edit" and then "Go advanced", scroll down until you see "manage attachments", hit that and a window will open where you can "browse" and upload pictures one at a time. After you do 3 click "upload", then you can do more. when finished scroll down and I think it will say "close this window", click that

be sure to "save changes" on your post-you will not see the pictures until you "save changes" and the thread will reopen.

it sounds complicated but its not. and it works fast.

good luck

Congratulations JK!
I too was smitten by the J-45 Standard.
I was looking for something different from my Sitka / rosewood Martin. Tried a J-45 in a shop that didn’t have many things to compare it to, loved it. Went to another store that had the J-45, Martin MD28, some other Gibsons really a bunch of great guitars. Some were wonderful but twice the price but ultimately I loved the sound of that J-45.
Didn’t buy then because I told myself I wanted to take a year and find the right guitar. I wanted to play some Eastmans and others.
We left for warmer weather to Arizona and while I’m there I see a Craigslist ad for a 2019 J-45 way below market price. Someone won it at a country music festival raffle and doesn’t play guitar. I call the guy and get the serial number and Gibson customer service verifies it’s authentic.
I buy it and never look back. Such a lovely guitar for me.
I hope you take to yours as I have.
Try some Martin Retro Light strings and give them 2-3 weeks to break in. It’s a different sound, very dry and woody.
Enjoy you’ve got yourself a great guitar imo.
