Since this old thread is back to life and lurching around looking for brains, it would be interesting to hear how the OP feels about his neck reset after a dozen years...

Taylor will be able to fix all of that for you. If Your luthier is great, maybe stick with that, but from what I hear, Taylor does fantastic resurrection/reclamation work. And I think they have a strong guarantee.

Cost is a downside, and the shipping rate is steep. But if you love the guitar, want to keep it, and can afford to fix it, that's what I would do.

Given that this is a 12 year old thread, exactly what sort of resurrection work are you suggesting?

That's one year for each string - spooky or just coincidence?

that has a bolt on neck -the neck reset should be a piece of cake -betting that 600 dollars has little to do with the neck reset.

This is hilarious...

I wonder how long it will continue to get new comments if every other post states this is a 12 YEAR OLD ZOMBIE THREAD...?

The fretboard extension is glued to the top on pre-NT necks.

The NT (New Technology) necks with their unglued fretboard extension didn't come in until late 1999/early 2000.

Threads like this make me wonder how much time any of US have before we need some sort of structural “reset” much less our guitars LOL!

FWIW I continue to weigh the cost of a newer Taylor 12 string and wonder if I have 30 years left in me. By that time I’ll be pushing 80 (knock on wood.)

Here's a little Taylor 12-string guitar trivia.

Older Taylor 12-string bridges have the pins in a dished 'smile' curve.
Newer guitars just ran the pins in a straight line.

So you can't replace an old style bridge with a new one!
