I was off on the 'Canes, but spot-on, with the Blues. Pulling for Berube and the Boys to win one for the fans in Dogtown, where I once lived.

That's nice of them to give us the weekend to rest up for the SC Finals.

I remember the last time they met St. Louis at the dance. There's a statue outside 'Boston' Garden commemorating Bobby Orr flying through the air (he was tripped) after scoring the game/series/Stanley Cup winner in OT.

Paul Henderson scored the game winner in the 8th and final game in the final minute which clinched the Cold War series for Canada 4-3-1 (there was a tie game in there). Probably the biggest goal in Canadian history. Those last 4 games were played in the Soviet Union and things got very tense.

That series is one for the ages. Canadians were feeling, "our game, our sport"...National Pride was at stake! The quality of the Soviets was astounding. The Canadian squad was also playing "International Rules"...far different than NHL rules. When Henderson scored that goal, I started singing the Canadian Anthem

No one knew how good the Soviets were until we played them. Big surprise - they were great. Canada wasn't in shape (they had the summer off and this was their pre-season training), Bobby Orr was Canada's best player and he didn't play any games due to injury, and the superstars that bolted to the WHA were not invited to play (i.e. Bobby Hull). I have that 100 card hockey set on the Summit Series - great info on them.

Memorial Cup Final is today! That's Canada's Junior hockey tournament and it's the league that players get drafted into the NHL. The US also has some teams in the league. Halifax, Nova Scotia is the host city and they're also in the final against Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (out of Quebec).

Go Halifax Mooseheads! Don't know if I can catch the game here in Oregon (I'm here for business) but perhaps an ESPN channel has it. It's great hockey.

I would like that outcome. Definitely rooting for the Blues, but I think it is Boston's to lose. I think it will be close...but after these playoffs. who can really say? I would like St. Louis to win.

Boston is not stupid, they know full well it will be a tough fight and they are not going to sweep. Ha-ha. Re-read the third sentence in paragraph above.

I hope the series is as entertaining in reality as it seems to be in potential.

The puck just dropped for Game 1.

See ya.
