Default Really Enjoying My Guild D-55 12 Fret Short Scale Guitar

Bet this gets some attention. LOL

For the past 2 months, I have been tuning my D-55 down to D to D tuning and then placing a capo on the second fret to bring the guitar back up to E to E tuning.
WHY????

I have a lot of back, neck, arm and hand pain when I play the guitar.
This has been getting worse over the past year.

I was thinking about selling the D-55 and getting a smaller body guitar but I could not let go of the fantastic tone that the D-55 has.
Not to mention it's beauty.
I would loose a lot of that sound with a smaller guitar.

My temporary solution was to try the D-55 tuned to D.
So far it is working better than expected.
I play sitting and with a strap holding the weight of the guitar.

My playing time has increased by triple or more by doing this.
For now, I have no desire to search out a smaller guitar.

I hope it stays that way.

Probably not. I've never heard of a Guild D-55 12-fret

I think the op meant his D55 became a 12-fret when he capoed it at the 2nd fret.

Yes, it is a Guild and now a 12 fret via capo.
