Try twisting the head of the tuner around a few times (assuming the battery checks out). I have had a couple of Snarks that I left in a case for a few months and didn't work even with a fresh battery. I noticed that if I wiggled the business end of it back and forth a few times they would work. Not sure why it worked, but it's worth a shot and doesn't cost anything!

Returning to topic, "not working" can mean different things. If the tuners in question won't power on, several good suggestion to remedy the problem have been made. A won't power on condition could alao be caused by a loose switch contacts. Ultimately, I highly doubt that many tuners can be serviced by the user...and they're cheap enough anyway. (For what it's worth, I uae a Korg CA-2.)

They turn on. They just won't register anything.

Did you check the VIB/MIC switch?

Did you try flicking it back and forth and seeing if it starts working? I've had that issue before but I don't use Snarks anymore since buying a Polytune Clip.

Just tossed both of them in the trash. Looking on ebay for a cheap alternative. Fortunately, all but one of my guitars has the D'addario Sound Hole Tuners which I love. Might just order one more.

I’ve had mine for several years and have had no issues. I’m saving up for a strobe pedal tuner.

My Snarks are lying in parts like broken insects in a drawer. I hugely prefer the Micro Tuner from D’addario.

Store lots of broken insects in drawers, do you?

Hey, who am I to judge other people’s hobbies?

I have 4 or 5 of the Snark tuners because one by one they broke in that frail spot where the ball joint is. Why I continued to buy more of them, only the Lord knows because I don’t know what the heck I was thinking. I have all the heads and clips in a little container but I suppose I will just toss them and not look back. I have a Peterson stroboclip on order. Hopefully the housing is more robust.

I see that they have been tossed. But just an FYI. I work in manufacturing and we use a lot of machine probes. They all have batteries for communication to a receiver.

We have on occasion and it's not unusual to have new batteries not be up to snuff. Depending how long they have been sitting you can have enough voltage to turn them on but not enough amperage to work properly.

Very well what could be going on here.

It will be, and even if something should break, and as long as you register the product, they will replace the part(s). I broke the pivot piece on my 1st generation Strobo Clip and they sent me a replacement part free of charge.

Excellent customer service
