Agreed,
What's better than a Telecaster with a maple board, another one with a rosewood board. |

But the guitar has features that I particularly like, traditional look with a unique element - a f-hole which makes it stand out. And it plays beautifully too. |

PRS has a few signature electrics that I have no idea who they are but I want the guitar. Enjoy your PRS!

Dan all of your gear is really beautiful, but this Stratocaster is knocking me out!
Sonic Blue? Rich, dark fretboard with a softly aged headstock. Good stuff.

Love the Gibson! How and when did you acquire it?

Thank you. When I first saw it hanging in the store, it was the color that drew me to it. There was an identical guitar at the store but it didn't play as well off the shelf, so to speak.

I acquired that guitar in 1978. It was listed in a local paper called Trading Times. I already knew enough reading George Gruhn's articles that the orange label and no volute was more desirable than later models. The seller wanted $350 and I got him to knock the price down to $315 because there was about a 1/4" diameter area on the back with no finish and one of the tuners was bent. Now that I think of it, one of the tone knobs was broken. I replaced it hoping that the insert would fade, but it never did. I immediately replaced the tuners with Grovers and soon after had the stop tailpiece conversion. I still have the pick guard and bracket but I kinda like the symmetry without the guard. Plus, in the summer playing sitting down in shorts, the bracket would dig in to my leg.

No longer playing with rock bands in bars (check out my username), I've culled a past herd of 10-12 electrics down to these two and a bass.
Concentrating efforts more on my acoustics lately, hoping to get a killer open mic duo going with the right singer/player. Maybe when the plague subsides. Anyhow, here are the two remaining electrics for my son to inherit someday and add to his collection of 10-12 (guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree after all). Neither plank is in mint condition. Both have been played hard and put up wet. Sweat and beer. Last edited by tinnitus; 05-20-2020 at 05:23 PM. |

Some real beauties out there. You guys are making me a little jealous with some of your stuff.
OK, let’s see if this works. First time using imgur we’re trying to post pictures. One recently acquired acoustic missing from the guitar picture. Update if this seems to work. Will see about updating if this works. Last edited by 1stGuitar; 05-22-2020 at 11:55 AM. |
