Default Take me to the Bridge

Hello,

Here are a couple shots of the bridge being made. Nine years ago I purposely did not create a jig for making bridges because I wanted it to "evolve" as I developed my designs. It really did go through a lot of changes and refinements and now 9 years later my skill in making these has improved to the point where I just don't want to use a jig!

I have a slight offset on the end pins and the bridge "belly" is ramped which reduces weight and increases the string break angle over the saddle. The ramp also allows me to vary the end pin distance from the saddle without affecting that break angle.

Thanks for viewing!

Thanks Dadgood and Peteom. Sorry Calebk, I'm a one man shop and am working on this guitar along with my other builds. You know, I actually wish my days were a bit longer!

I've got a rough cut on the neck so here are a couple pics

Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks Solo!

I'm enjoying putting this together and have been really surprised and happy with the response I've gotten so far. I'm thinking I should add a version of this thread to my web site. My wife suggested I offer a photo album of "baby pictures" when I sell a guitar.

Thanks Again!

Great idea to include a CD of pics with the finished guitar Mark.

I am also enjoying this thread immensely and appreciate the time and effort it takes to also present wonderful images of the build - thank you,

I have a watch that the watchmaker photographed during the build and I quite like it. Build process images would be very cool to get with one of your guitars!

Thanks for your comments and suggestions everyone.

One thing I find is true in building a guitar is the construction starts out pretty fast. It doesn't take long to close the box and it begins looking like a guitar pretty early on. I get anxious to see it finished. This is the time to really slow down. Taking the time now is really important to the final outcome.

I do not use jigs or CNC to cut necks. My favorite part of building a guitar is carving and shaping the neck in the "open air".

Here are two pictures of the heel with the heel cap on in back and front views.
