NMsD - IK Multimedia iLoud Micro Monitors
After 8-10 years of using Alesis M1 Active MK2 monitors I decided to get iLoud Micro monitors. Read and watched many reviews, vast majority of them very positive and pulled the trigger.
My impression: in general, they sound great, very clear, loud and punchy. They have more bass than you expect from such small speakers. I even had to switch on the -3dB shelf filter on the back of the monitor because for my room, there was too much of low frequency. Excellent stereo image. I listened to my old tunes I made a few years ago and discovered many details I haven't heard before. I've always thought that the Alesis sounded decent but in comparison to the iLoud monitors, they are muddy and undefined. On the picture here, my small setup is shown, the speakers don't look impressive, more like cheap computer speakers but that's only a disguise. They are worth the hype. |

iLoud
I have a pair of iLoud's and also think they are great for their size. That being said, my main studio monitoring system is more detailed, dynamic and neutral. It should be though for over twenty times the cost. I use my iLouds in a portable system with a Windows laptop and Audioquest Dragonfly DAC. The iLoud's sound so much bigger than their size! I am very happy with them as well.

Amazing they can get low frequencies with a 3" woofer. Specs show the low end as 45Hz, 55hz @ +/-3dB. For reference, low E on a bass is about 43Hz.
