What's the nut width on that? The neck looks pretty skinny...

If the person that built that wall in the 2nd shot is the same person building the guitar, you're in trouble.

Ha! Beautiful side wood shot. Nice. Interesting. Don't worry about the wall thing. The folks down under are hyper-sensitive to walls because all their decent ones fell off the earth. It's a gravity thing.

Okay, you're Canadian, so I don't know whether the word "drawers" has the same secondary meaning in Canada as it has in the US. But south of the international border "drawers" is an old-fashioned word for "underwear."
I can assure you that none of us on this forum wants to know about your underwear, much less see any pictures of it. Seriously. Please don't post any selfies of yourself standing in your undies doing Miley Cyrus poses, thank you just the same.... I mean, I'm certain that there are online communities that would be DELIGHTED to view those photos. Just not this one. Wade Hampton "And, No, It's NOT A USA Versus Canada Thing!" Miller |

What? Guitar looks delightful. Any way the 12-fret 00 Halcyons could ever end up with a simple, flat cutaway as an option?

More on the axe, less on the drawers (lol)
Once again through his clients tastes, Ed abides and astounds !!!. In another recent Halcyon post highlighting a dark but Multi-hued Walnut, I commented that I really don't like Walnut, but thought that one was awesome. Same comment here. What a beautiful piece of wood creating a beautiful guitar. Although based on my complete lack of tone wood knowledge, I should not the wood-obscurity judge or yard stick, I continue to be blown away by the obscure woods Ed seems to source to turn what could be ordinary looking guitars (IRW, Sitka) into extraordinary looking and sounding guitars at a fraction of other folks prices. I'm not sure why other builders don't do it, but am glad Ed has created this niche for himself and his clients as I count myself among them ! Although I have no vote or influence (and nothing against our other fine luthiers), Ed should certainly be a candidate for some sort of innovative luthier of the year award for these incredible sounding and looking guitars !!!!
Congrats to gasworker !!! How many Halcyons does this make for you ? Peace and Happy Holidays ! John

What do they (Halcyons) sound like? Solo studio videos of them don't seem to exist. They look great and the idea of a deep body 00 like the NL-00 is interesting, but its a dice game - no clue as to tone.

Halcyons do seem to get a lot of love around here. And I do agree that buying before trying is kind of a roll of the dice. The best sounding fingerpicking guitar I ever played was a NL style (Santa Cruz) with a rosewood back and sides. Considering that Halcyons are not too spendy not to mention the $ exchange rate, I rolled the dice myself. I don't have the guitar yet, but I'm optpmistic that I will be satisfied.
