Taylor GC5-Sold
**PRICE REDUCED**
This guitar is in excellent condition (one small ding on the underside of the lower bout- see picture). This has been properly humidified. Super comfortable to play with incredible sound. This has the slotted headstock with the short scale, unbelievably easy feel on the fretboard. This has cedar top with mahogany back and side. I had this set-up with a Taylor Gold star Technician in South Carolina. SOLD The Taylor GC5 Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar with traditional styling is intimate and curvy yet has volume that belies its size. The slotted peghead and short-scale neck deliver a more "woody" tone and an unbelievably easy feel on the fretboard. A western red cedar top paired with tropical mahogany brings rich, sparkling tone to this Taylor guitar Body Style: 6-String Grand Concert Back & Sides: Tropical American Mahogany Top: Western Red Cedar Rosette: Abalone Neck: Tropical American Mahogany Fretboard: Ebony with Binding Fretboard Inlay: Abalone Dots Headstock Overlay: Indian Rosewood Binding: Ivoroid Bridge: Ebony Nut and Saddle: Tusq Tuning Machines: Taylor Slot-head Tuners Strings: Elixir Light Gauge Strings with Nanoweb Coating Scale Length: 24-7/8" Truss Rod: Adjustable Neck Width at Nut: 1-3/4" No. of frets: 20 Fretboard Radius: 15" Bracing: Standard II (Forward Shifted Pattern W/Relief Rout) Finish: Gloss Cutaway: None Electronics: None Body Width: 15" Body Depth: 4-3/8" Body Length: 19-1/2" Overall Length: 40-1/2" Case: Taylor Deluxe Hardshell Last edited by samorrow; 04-28-2021 at 09:08 AM. Unless his is a custom bespoke, it'll have the usual Taylor GC specs - 1.75 nut width, about a .85 neck depth at the nut, 2 3/16 spacing at the saddle, 24 7/8 scale. 15" wide lower bout.
I have one, and love it. |

I am very familiar with this particular family of Taylor guitars.
Taylor began offering a "stripped down" line of guitars to aim for the lower price market. They did this by taking all their existing guitars, removing the aesthetic appointments (bling) and eliminating the cutaways and removing the electronics. Since these started out with no option for electronics, they dubbed this family the Acoustic Line and the model names were were two letters designating the shape and a number indicating the wood combination. The designations were: GC = grand concert GA = grand auditorium GO = grand orchestra GS = grand symphony DN = dreadnought the wood designations were, originally: 3 = spruce over sapele 4 = spruce over ovangkol 5 = cedar over mahogany 6 = spruce over maple 7 = cedar over rosewood 8 = spruce over rosewood An NS suffix indicated a nylon string version. Over time, and probably due to customer demand, they started offering electronic pickups and then cutaways. In time, I think, the margins were eroded until these were competing and stealing revenues from the higher priced models. Eventually, Taylor discontinued this line. They are no longer made and, in my opinion, the best Taylor guitar-for-the-money ever made. My all-time favorite is my GC7, I own a GA3 twelve string and had a GS7 and GS8. The GC5 is a fantastic and amazing guitar. It is especially suited for fingerstyle and considering, by some, to be Taylor's best fingerstyle guitar. If I didn't have a GC7, I would buy this guitar without a millisecond of hesitation. If anyone is even remotely considering this guitar, I would give you the nudge to go ahead and buy this - you will not be disappointed. These are not available anymore and you will have no problem selling it again so it's a safe purchase. I have no affiliation with the seller - this is an unsolicited endorsement of this guitar. GLWTS

I will echo what Fazool said. My GC7 is a great guitar, very special. I would imagine the GC5 to be similarly terrific.
