Yours truly at Sanderstead Station in Surrey, UK after a night of playing at the Lime Meadow Rugby Club. Inside the Hiscox Pro II case was my Martin '39 D-18A w/VTS. K&K equipped.

I was catching the last train to London's Victoria Station that night in 2019 as the station attendant was closing up and asked if I'd like her to take a pic. Glad she did!

I really miss all my musical buddies in the UK and can't wait to get back over there when this pandemic is finally put to rest.

Once again, yours truly on the ice at Cape McMurdo, Antarctica in October 1990.

I flew the Lockheed C-141 for 23 years in the USAF. One of our unit's missions out of Travis AFB, CA was to keep the scientists at McMurdo supplied and air evac out folks who needed medical treatment that wasn't available there.

We flew to the ice from Christchurch, NZ and it was about an 8 hr flight to McMurdo. Unbelievably beautiful down there and I really miss it.

That's 13,000 ft Mt Erebus in the background. A live volcano, you can see it spouting off some steam that day. The folks at McMurdo keep a VERY close eye on it!

I understand, it’s a special place! I’m an hour north, but down here all the time to surf and ride mountain bikes. Would love to convince the wife to move to SC but we still have kids in school and a nice home here, so I’ll just have to be happy with the drive.

Site of a terrible plane crash.

The Mount Erebus disaster occurred on 28 November 1979 when Air New Zealand Flight 901 flew into Mount Erebus on Ross Island, Antarctica, killing all 237 passengers and 20 crew on board.

Correct. There are no navigational aids down there, so it's VFR only with many mountains over 14,000 ft. Magnetic compasses don't work (every direction is north). Weather is usually poor and visibility awful.

These days you have GPS, but back when I flew you had to have a specially qualified navigator onboard who could navigate via grid in addition to the two inertial navigation systems we had onboard.

That Air New Zealand flight became disoriented in the clouds and flew into the mountain, killing all onboard.

Here's a shot I took of the runway on short final. About 12,000 ft of etched ice.

My wife and I managed to sneak over the border to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls:

I used the panoramic function on my iPhone but tried not to stretch it too much; it tends to look distorted if you turn more than 90 degrees. I just wanted something in the foreground to give a sense of scale.

Here's the view from our hotel room:

I even tried a night time shot with the iPhone but there's really no way to control ISO and F Stop with the stock photo app.

I've been wanting to experiment with "bike portraits" for a while. I had the location chosen, but it took a while to coordinate schedules with bike owners. Well, I finally accomplished the task.

The location is an abandoned road; the old, now never used former entrance to a local elementary school. Still paved and striped, it's gloriously overgrown:

The first one came out pretty much exactly as I saw it in my head. When that happens, I know I'm on to something...
