Default Ernie Ball Earthwood PB. Nice surprise!!!

A friend of mine, who bought some strings and somehow didn't want to use some of those, gave me a medium light Ernie Ball Earthwood PB pack. Since I wasn't pleased with the Aluminum Bronze I used months ago, I was somewhat apathetic to use the Earthwoods. Nevertheless, I decided to put them on my Ovation Legend, which had the Martin Authentic Lifespans. I have to say that, at least on my Legend, the Earthwood makes the acoustic boom of my O' more pleasing than with the Martin strings. Also, they feel better and they got their best tone pretty quick. Recommended!

I couldn't agree more. I went through a lot of strings before I found these and now I use them for all my acoustics. I love the slightly beefier gauge on strings 4,5 &6 then lights give you, but you still get the 12 on the 1. Great concept and they are inexpensive too. Love them!!

I had the same experience. Never had a string die quicker on me than these.

Best,

I used them in the 70's but stopped because they would die die die way too quickly and I don't have sweaty hands. I thought about trying them again, but maybe not now.

I liked them too but like Jerzey mentioned, they were dead in a week.

I've been using John Pearce 80/20's lately with good results. They last a bit longer but on the lookout for something else to try.

Hmm....looking for some strings to soften a guitar that is a bit on the bright side for me. Maybe these would do the trick after "death"?

I have been using Earthwood lights for awhile now. I presently have them on 2 guitars. Been on them for a couple of months anyway. One of them gets played on a regular basis, at least once a week. Holds tune very well.

I know someone is going to say I need to change more often. If was playing gigs I would change more often. But since the guitars I have the Earthwoods on stay home. No need to. They sound and play just fine.

I do have one guitar that just seems to kill any string I put on it. I tried Earthwoods on it. Extra Light, Light, Light Medium. Two to three weeks they started sounding dead. Recently put on Daddardio, same thing. Maybe I need to plug that one in since it is acoustic/electric.

But for the most part I am happy with Earthwood. May be it's because I'm an old Ernie Ball flatwound user on electrics.

I agree they sound and feel great at first, but like others said they go dead quickly. And I've found that there is not really much in between period, I have about 8 unused packs that I bought on special at GC sitting in a room. The bronzes didn't do much better for me, same deal.

Have you tried any of the nickel or Monel strings?

I have a set of D’addario NB12-53’s on my Journey Instruments.

It gets played four or five times a week.

Still sounds good. Last string change was 9/15/19.

May have to give those try. I think the biggest issue is the guitar. If I played it in the store I would have put it back. But since it was a Christmas gift from my wife it stays.

Next time I'm at the guitar shop I'll ask about some monel.

Thanks
