Mike Mclaughlin - Shake My Soul
Hey guys.
I gig with my partner Mike a few times each month. During covid lockdowns, he made lemonade from lemons, and wrote and recorded a new album professionally. Shake My Soul. Won’t you have a listen? Thanks! https://mikemclaughlinwiththebennett.../shake-my-soul Last edited by SalFromChatham; 07-19-2021 at 03:30 PM. |

Hi Sal,
Mike and the Bennett Brothers Band did a really good job on this album, Sal! Every cut sounds really good. Pretty impressive! I'm glad he was able to turn some part of this pandemic in a positive direction! - Glenn

Glenn, I am a hack. Lucky enough to play music people like to sing and remember, in bars, where the more they drink the better we sound...
Mike and the Bennet Brothers are the real deal. John Ginty produced... But the sad thing for me, as his friend, is that the economics of such a feat are horrible. Pennies per stream. I had not known that! |

If an album like that had come out 40-50 years ago, it would have been a money-maker. But today when nobody buys CDs and everyone expects their music for free? This is why I just do my thing on YouTube. I get to make music, I don't have to be out until 3 AM doing some gig, then drive home exhausted trying not to fall asleep on the road, and I don't have to worry about how to recover the investment in a CD project. I did all that 30 years ago and I'm glad I took a shot at it then, but things have changed so drastically. The streaming thing works for a few artists but not for very many. I have read that streaming works for piano players who can come up with their own compositions and make background music for college kids to listen to while they are studying. - Glenn
