Note on posture... as long as you keep the guitar steady using your chest, leg and arm while keeping your hands free to play the guitar rather than hold and balance the guitar, than any posture will work.

I personally prefer sitting with my left leg raised - as in a classical style. When I stand the strap takes the place of my leg.

Brand new to finger picking so I purchased the Learning How To Finger Pick' guitar lessons.

At a quick glance I'm assuming we learn by doing versus finger picking fundamentals or theory, allowing us to develop as we go. Not sure if I'm explaining myself correctly here or not?

Ready or not her I go LOL

Happy New Year

Hi Bruce,

Yes... the only 'exercises' that I would call close to fundamentals would be the alternating thumb exercise which is in the very beginning. After that the lessons are all geared to teaching you how to finerpick by means of learning songs. Each of those songs in the lesson group introduce new techniques which will develop your skills even further.

Enjoy the lessons and keep us updated on your progress!

I have the E, A, and D packs, love em! I ordered Toby's Take a Solo, for Christmas and received it Friday, spent the week end going thru it, love it. Toby thank you for these lessons, they really help me become a better guitarist, love it!

Thanks again.

Music to my ears! I'm quite glad that you're able to improve with help of my lessons. That's a mighty fine compliment and I thank you.

Working on parts 3 and 4 of Hideaway. This tune is actually easy for me to memorize! However, the bass is the key to the song. That has to carry everything and getting my volume even is challenging.

Excellent. It'll be great to hear a sound clip when you're ready.

Looks awesome, I see that Hellhound is in cross note tuning. Are all the others in standard or some in standard and some in open tuning?

The RJ lessons look too good to pass up. I need to retire just so I can have sufficient time to spend on all of Toby's lessons!
