100% this. There's no reason to have extra strings on hand, especially as a gigging musician. I've got a year supply, thanks to awesome deals from Strings & Beyond.

Monday is a Holiday. My luck. Lol.

At least they actually called back like they promised. Kudos.

Thanks for the responses and keeping things in perspective!
It seems like Sweetwater went above and beyond. When I ordered a guitar from MF (shipped from GC), which was going to be a Christmas present, and they failed to ship 2-day as promised and shipped it ground, their response was "sorry, our bad." Thankfully, it delivered on Christmas Eve, but they didn't care about the shipment or when the carrier would deliver it.

I'm delighted, and frankly surprised (but not really b/c their customer service is excellent) that they're overnighting a set of strings.

Right...?

Glad it all worked out, but sheesh, this seems like a lot of drama over a single set of strings.

My last order from Sweetwater was a few sets of strings and a pair of corded Samson headphones for recording/monitoring and it took over a week.

It's usually just a few days from the State next door.

When I tracked it, it looked like the problem was Fed-Ex but who knows?

Free shipping so I didn't sweat it, there's never been a time when I didn't have many spare sets of strings on hand.

Well, not in the last 30 years or so.

Not into thinking ahead I guess.

I'm just a couch-playing hack, and I've probably got 15 sets of strings around the house. Why does a gigging musician not have at least a spare set in their guitar case in the event of a broken string?

I explained to the rep that the site still offers 2 day shipping if I add the strings to my cart and the rep could not care less. Typically I would not be this bothered, but I have a show tonight and no strings. I now have to drive 1.5 hours round trip to GC to pick up a set of Chromes. Another 20 bucks gone and gas wasted.

I know this is not a positive post, I am just getting tired of companies not sticking to their word and not caring at all when they renege.

Forgive me but, a gigging musician, ordering "A" set of strings?

My advise for the future. Keep multiple sets of strings on hand at all times.

Don't wait till you have no strings to order more.

I get mine from Strings And Beyond, or Just Strings.

What performing Guitarist doesn’t have at least a few sets of strings on hand??? What if you break one of the new strings? I’ve had high e strings break or unravel while putting them on.

On a side note, Sweetwater has a great reputation for their customer service. But, sometimes I think they go overboard. I honestly don't need or want a phone call every time I make a small purchase.

Maybe it's just coincidence, but I was recently browsing the website. I started to make a purchase but changed my mind and removed it from the cart. But I swear it was less than 5 minutes before I had a call from my service rep leaving a voice message.

Boy, if that’s the worst of your problems, you have it made.
I’d rather have too much customer service than what seems to be the norm in our society today.

I did another order last week that's taking longer than normal.

I think they DID change something over there.

I used to get the calls

but once I established myself with the same sales rep, I don't.

But, we've kind of become email/text pen pals.

he works with my son as well.

and when ever I need anything he's there, on the spot.

any issues, he's once again, on it like a mouse on cheddar.

To me, there is no better online place to do bizz.

That’s simple to deal with - ask them not to do that any more.

There are so many other online sources, I've switched to using these. Prices are competitive. Shipping is sometimes faster. No sales calls.

Given a preference, I will shop with an area music store even if it means paying a little more. In rural areas, it can be more of a challenge. My nearest store is about 90 minutes away.
