Default MD350C Substitute Pickup Recommendation?

I recently got hold of an Alvarez MDS350C. Wonderful sounding guitar, unplugged. I have an Alvarez condenser mic coming for it, but I want to get rid of the UST's and substitute maybe a decent passive soundhole pickup. I'd be running the soundhole pickup and the mic through the preamp in the guitar. At least that's what I'm thinking right now.

I know for sure that the UST's are gone - too much quacking. I also am going to be running this through a Fishman Dreadnought Aura pedal. And those things seem to only work with UST's or magnetic soundhole pickups.

So I have two questions for the group:

1. Am I correct in my general thinking and direction?

2. What passive (?) pickup would work best for this application?

For those not familiar with the MD350C, it's spruce top, rosewood sides and back, all solid.

Thanks for any suggestions you'd care to make.

Fred
