I had the privilege of being the opener for Roy Clark 15 years ago at a local venue...What a gentleman and so honestly gracious! I was completely and totally thrilled to speak with him. And man... could he play the guitar like no one I had ever seen before. His hearing was going at the time I met him, but what a showman as well when he hit the stage with his band. He was so kind and complimentary. He was a true country legend.

What a talent! I've been a Roy Clark fan for as long as I can remember. I never cared much for the show, Hee Haw, but I tuned in just to see Roy's weekly performance.
His playing transcended any genre. Such a creative player. He was a legend.

Very sad. I was in high school during the 70s so we had one TV. My dad liked country music so HEE HAW was on every Saturday night at 7:00. I'd get home from the gas station, eat, and get ready to go out with HEE HAW providing the soundtrack. I thought Roy was good, but didn't play guitar then so really didn't appreciate his talent at the time.

Thank you to those of you who posted videos - wow! And to The Doc, it is great to hear that he was the same gentleman in person that he seemed to be on TV.

Default Rest In Peace- Roy Clark

Find the video where he plays Malagueña on the Odd Couple back in 1975. It will blow your mind.

A sad day indeed. A great guitarist, a great entertainer, and a great man. It seems almost surreal. Roy Clark, who would have thought that he could ever die? He just seemed to always be there. I'm going to miss him. R.I.P. Roy.

I've seen him declining considerably for the last few years but after all, he was 85 years old. He was one of my favourites, growing up.

Mr. Clark as “Cousin Roy” playing fiddle on an episode of The Beverley Hillbillies. A phenom on that instrument too. Play on, Roy!

He also played at least one wind instrument.

For those who like to read biographies of musicians, his is top notch.

My heart is heavy tonight as I remember Roy playing and singing. Always thought he played too fast, but that may have been jealousy on my part as I could never keep up with him. lol. It is interesting that whenever one of the legends of Country Music passes that George Jones song "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" comes to mind. It stays in my head, popping up as the weirdest times, as there are not many answers.

One of my favorites, this time on banjo. His playing is so ingrained it's like breathing to him.
