After a little bit of speaking, this demo goes into a stunning version of the theme from Spirited Away:

Default Why I love my Schertler AG-6

I know that you can never fully trust an audio demo, but the demos are consistent and to my ears, this mag mic sound is simply the best sound I’ve ever heard come out of a guitar pickup system. As compared to my Skysonic FS1, the magnetic pickup sounds almost exactly the same, but the Shertler mic sounds better. These demos give me goosebumps!

I just ordered both pieces today. I’ll report back when it comes and I’ve had a chance to try it.

Default Why I love my Schertler AG-6

Both pieces (the pickup and the mic) came today and it is now installed. It takes a bit of EQ (high pass and a notch around 140HZ) but now that it is dialed in I would have to say that this is the best amplified sound I’ve ever heard coming out of an acoustic guitar. Stunning really!

Edit: The EQ on my Elite Acoustics D6-8 is very good. It has a sweepable mid, phase reverse, a notch and a high pass. If I didn’t have all those things, I could still use the pickup but I would have to turn the mic down which would lose much of the advantage of this system.

I expect that with the mic all the way up (a la the Dman video) it would be really great for recording since there would be no feedback to consider.

I still see myself using the Skysonic FS-1 pickup for open mics and gigs where I am plugging into a bartender run sound system. The FS-1 mic is a lot less sensitive and sounds better than most guitar pickups with the EQ set flat.

If you have the control to tweak the sound though, the Shertler AG-6 plus S-Mic can sound exquisite!

I have just received my AG-6 / S-Mic-M combination.

Should the mic element work in isolation if required? I can get a signal from the pickup, but can't hear the mic. If I turn the pickup all the way off and put the ext (mic) volume to full, there is nothing.

Is this right????

Yes that's the way it works. According to Schertler there is always some Mag signal present in the mic even when it's set to 100%
