Boss Wireless Transmitter for Acoustics
Thinking of buying a Boss wireless system instead of using the cords I have collected but have a few questions.
I have two Taylors with the ES1 pickup systems (The output jack is next to the battery pack) and also a Tele and Strat. I am looking at the Boss WL-20....WL-20L or the WL-50 Some people have had problems with noise when used with with an active vs passive pick-up. Since I want to use the wireless jacks with the acoustics and the Fenders, has anyone got any advice or experience with the Boss system? I have read the specs and FAQ on the Boss site but nothing is clear. Thanks DuFf |

The Boss system does not work with active pickups without using an adapter and I had drop outs while using it.

Also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3EBv0HdCCA&t=133s though this is from a year ago, its characteristics may be better known now.
These are options you can pursue other than interrogating a source of free expert content as if he were on the witness stand lol. Good luck, the tech these days is amazing. |

I have bought the Boss WL20 when it came out, then the generic Carvin W5 after that. Unlike some here, I have had no issues with the Boss system. It works well with any of my guitars.
The only negative comment I have about the Boss system is the it conflicts with one channel on my xVive U3 microphone wireless. Other than that it's been great. I use it now as a second wireless in case somebody wants to jam with me on guitar. |

You know.......I did a search here before I asked but that thread did not come up...... sorry if it came across as an interigation but there was no mention of the Boss system in the answer........I was trying to clarify what was being answered.
Anyway....thank you to all who took the time to answer, the link to the prior thread should be helpful, I wish it had come up in the search. DuFf

The WG5 can be typically purchased on Amazon with free returns. I've used it at home and at gigs and it's been perfect. My only caution is that it's made from plastic so I do not know how well it will hold up over time. It definitely does not have the heavy duty build quality of my Shure GDLX system, but it's so much more convenient and with my greatly reduced and varied gigging schedule it's working out very well.
