Collings OM1 MC Sitka Spruce / Mountain Cedar / TRADED
For sale is a 2015 Collings OM1 with a Sitka spruce top and Mountain Cedar back and sides. The guitar is in mint condition with only minor fret wear and no notable blemishes. Always properly humidified, neck angle is perfect, setup is great with action right at just under 6/64" and 4/64" at the 12th fret, with minimal relief and a tall saddle.
This is one of my favorite smaller bodied guitars, I just find myself playing dreads lately. But for an OM, this thing projects like crazy, but has a surprising amount of warmth and fullness to the tone. This is a very unique tonewood combination that looks and sounds beautiful. Just strung with fresh EXP16s. I'll steal the following description from Artisan Guitars, describing this tonewood combo: "The topwood on this guitar is Sitka Spruce, which is very versatile and known for it's lush bass response and easy playability. The back and sides are Mountain Cedar. Mountain Cedar "Spanish Cedar" is also know as Cedrela Montana. It is harvested from managed timber forest concession in Peru. There is no clear cutting and it does not come from plantations. It is dense and solid and has all the qualities of traditional Spanish Cedar but, unlike it’s cousin, this cedar species does not ooz sap from its pores. This high elevation species has spectacular color, quality and stability. A surprising amount of low end means chords are rich and lush, balancing the clear high end of the Mountain Cedar back and sides quite nicely. This guitar is quite responsive whether played soft or loud... it maintains balance throughout the dynamic spectrum." This is a great wood combination from Collings. Not as common as some others but, well worth considering. GLWS!

A fellow forum member sent me this video and I feel it accurately represents how this guitar sounds. It has a warm, crisp tone with typical, outstanding Collings projection and clarity.
