Gibson J15, it's still relatively reasonably priced, and it works.

I’m not surprised you like koa. IME with a K-22 12 fret, I loved the balance that guitar had but it was not the loudest I think due to having a koa top so the combo of koa and spruce would work a bit better. Your impression of the K-14 makes sense. Good luck in finding the right fit.
