Thanks, I just had a look through your own build thread, and your camatillo back and sides do look lovely (as does the rest of the guitar of course, you must be well pleased with it ). Gives me an idea too of how mine might come up with some finish on them, and it makes me a happy man

Thumbs up

And now the kerfing is on. I love these pics with the myriad of clamps or other bits and pieces hanging off, they always bring a smile to my face

How does Camatillo compare to Braz, Indian, MadRose, Honduran, etc? I know they're all Rosewoods and sound pretty similar but what are the traits of Camatillo? It looks fabulous BTW.

In my experience (3 Camatillo guitars), Camatillo is the closest to Brazilian I have ever heard.... I would say Honduran is pretty close too....

For my next project, I am seriously looking at a sinker redwood/camatillo combination...just got to get through this one and save some $$$ first.

Alrighty, after a bit of a break (at least at this end, I've no doubt Peter's been working hard ) here's another picture to share. This time it's the soundport.

I was keen to keep it fairly simple, but wanted something more than a straight hole in the side of the guitar. After a bit of back and forth, Peter suggested the following variation on the standard oval (only a rough sketch).

I was instantly smitten and gave the go ahead. Luckily I had no second thoughts because in no time at all it was too late to back out

Only a small change from the regular oval, but to me it makes a world of difference in terms of looks (but, as I'm sure goes without saying, I'm considerably biased )

(And I have just noticed that the markup in the first picture is actually on the bottom of the guitar! Is that a new idea Peter was tossing up, or a disaster just barely averted?? )

To quote Crowded House - "Now we're getting somewhere!" Not that I haven't been absolutely loving all the pictures coming through so far, but seeing the box all joined up seems a very momentous point in the guitar's life

Here's a couple of updates worth - first the box with the binding and purfling finished up.

(^ Ain't that pretty? )

And then the first shots from Joe with the pore filler on

So needless to say, like Big Kev (God rest his soul), "I'm excited!" (a reference for the Aussies here )

Good choice on the binding. It looks very sharp.

Indeed, I can't ignore a request from the main man himself! And you're right Peter, it's been far too long between posts here.

So, first up, following on from the pore filler in the last set of pics, here's the fully finished body in all it's glossy beauty...
