Mark Knopflers Guitar Heroes
Not sure if its had much publicity in the US - quite a lot of media coverage here in the UK.
Knopfler has re recorded "Going Home" -the theme from Local Hero, with the help of 50 plus guitarists, in aid of Teenage Cancer Trusts in UK/USA. The single was released yesterday & lasts 9 minutes - a real stellar list of guitarists, and Jeff Beck's contribution was the last piece of music he ever recorded. Full coverage on Knopfler's website and the single is on Youtube. Rich |

Just listened to it, what a great gathering of musicians, I'd love to see a video of the whole recording process of everyone who participated.
All done for such a good cause. I've always been a Mark Knopfler fan, listen to his work quite often.

Being reported that they are releasing a video next week detailing who plays which parts on the single.
Jeff Beck is the opening part, Clapton plays both electric and acoustic guitar on the whole track and Brian May plus David Gilmour and obviously Knopfler are heavily featured along with Joan Armatrading, Albert Lee and Pete Townsend. Assume the UK based guitarists all recorded their parts at the London studio and then US guitarists (Springsteen, Joan Jett, Ry Cooder, Sheryl Crowe, Joe Walsh etc etc) forwarded their parts? Guess it took around 18 months to complete. |

Guess Mark didn't have much to do with the cover pic....his hero Hank Marvin is shown as left handed, as is, I think Pete T?
