Default What acoustic music do you prefer?

Looking at some of the threads here, I am now starting to realize that there are many acoustic guitarists I've never heard of, typically instrumental.

Just as our tastes in guitars vary, so do our tastes in music... The one common thread being that guitars are involved.

What type of music/ guitarists do you prefer? Sorry, poll only allows for one vote... LOL!

I prefer more experimental stuff I suppose. My favorite acoustic guitarist is Michael Hedges by a longshot if that indicates anything.

I cast my vote for Johnny Cash, but I was torn between that and the Tom Petty vote. Fortunately, on Mr. Cash's recent albums, Mr. Petty has been lending a hand! I'm a big fan of both.

Cash is just so raw, pure open... wonderful IMO. Man I can't get enough sometimes... much to the dismay of those usually around me! The American recordings are SUPER!

Had to come back and edit this a bit: I also dig James Taylor, Nanci Griffith, Rory Block, Joan Armatrading (I'm a big female artist fan... LOVE Patsy Cline!)... Waylon and Willie... Hank Sr. ... man theres more and more and more...

So much good music and only two ears to listen with!

I went for the “other” vote I like acoustic side of rock like Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Jethro Tull, David Bowie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Uriah Heep, CSN&Y (together and separate) Bad Company, etc. But there are other styles I appreciate, but may not necessarily play. Hank Williams Sr, Johnny Cash, come to mind.

Should have allowed multiple selctions. My choices are first, the instrumental and then closely followed by acoustic blues. I don't avoid any of the others, though.

I chose "other/multiple" because I like almost all of it.

I listen to Doyle Dykes, Pat Kirtley, Phil Keaggy, Jim Earp and the likes a lot, bt it all just depends on what I feel like at the time.

I just had to vote for acoustic blues Robert Johnson. While I don't play a lot of Robert Johnson stuff I play mostly acoustic blues of that age.

I'm a big fan of the singer/songwriter camp, but tend toward Guy Clark, Townes VZ, Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen. But I like and listen to a lot of stuff - bluegrass, blues, fingerpickin', flatpickin. My charge account at Amazon.com is a running joke at our house, but my wife gets even with Coldwater Creek....

I like lots of stuff, but singer/songwriter and rock tied for first pick of those categories...
