Question What strings do I try next ?

Time to change strings on my 814ce. I've got the following sets left in my "trial package". Which ones will knock my socks off?

D'Addario - EXP16
D'Addario - 80/20 Lights
D'Addario - Phosphor Bronze Lights
DR - Phosphor Bronze Extra
DR - Sunbeams
Dean Markley - Alchemy, Gold Phosphor
Dean Markley - Signature, Phosphor Bronze
Dean Markley - Signature, Vintage Bronze
RotoSound - Country Gold (light/mediums)
So far, my favorites have been Dean Markley Formula 82/R.

I like the D'addario Phosphor Bronze lights. That's what I use on both of my GAs.

I really had good results with D'Addario 80/20's on my jumbo. But I did not like the EXP in either the 80/20 or phos.

I really like GHS Vintage Bronze. I've settled on them for a while after a pretty lengthy search.

You forgot about the D'Addario 80/20 EXP's! They're great!

I haven't tried these yet, but I've heard wonderful things about them. Al Petteway recently switched to 82/R's on one of his guitars. I'll be especially interested to hear how you think they compare to the DM Alchemy GoldPhos, since that's what I use now.

As I'm sure you know by now, string preference is a highly subjective and personal thing, as are our choices in guitars. Try them all out and see what fits you best.

John Pearse!
Phosphor Bronze is my preference, but the 80/20's sound better on my Yamaha (My beach guitar).

I put on the DR Sunbeams.

They feel like they have slightly higher tension and are a little more abrasive, but ring out evenly.

Not too bright, but no muddiness at all. They physically behave different from day one. My strobe tuner always shows the first attack as sharp or flat then it oscillates from one to the other. I have to wait a second or two for the note to stabilize.

Try the D'Adarrio EXP Custom Lights. I have them on my 810 and I'll swear by 'em to anyone.

If I am not going to use the Elixer nanos it would have to be the John pearce mediums. They are wonderful . Smooth and precise and very thick and sweet . Do not expect a long live out of this string but the tone is hard to ignore.
