First instrument: 12-bass accordion (rental)
Quickly graduated to using Dad's 120-bass, I believe the brand was something like Generalfisa. First acoustic guitar: Harmony sunburst archtop (Christmas, 1963). Probably about $50 in the Montgomery Wards catalog -- saw one much like it in the "very used" section of a guitar store here in Houston last year -- I believe they wanted several hundred for it. |

First instrument was an upright piano that we inherited from my grandmother. It had to be tuned a half note flat due to a crack in the soundboard. Then I played saxophone (a renter from the school) and then french horn (another renter from the school).
The first instrument I loved was a Harmony Stella that cost $30 brand new. It hurt my fingers so bad. I'll try to list some of the other guitars I've had in the order I got them: Gibson Melody Maker Harmony Rocket Ibanez Double Neck 6/12 Ibanez Flying V Fender Jazz Master Yamaha ??? Electric Gibson Les Paul Custom Gibson SG Custom There are many more. I don't really miss any of them except the double neck just because it was so weird. Current instruments: Gibson 1968 SG Custom with a fretless wonder neck (the finest electric I've ever played) Jose Ramirez 2CWE (love it!) Baby Taylor (incredible for the scale size) I'm happy, now all I need is a great Fender and a great full sized steel string |

First Guitar 1952
A 3.00 Stella I bought from a school friend.
Took about two days to talk my dad out of the 3.00. I met the guy the other day that sold it to me. First time I had seen him since 1957. http://www.stellaguitars.com/ Check out the 1921 catalog prices. |

My first guitar was a Samick Strat copy, which I also "modified" and has since been destroyed. My first acoustic is my Northwood MJ-70HM.

First instrument-an ancient upright piano.
Played french horn, trumpet and trombone in school band, First acoustic guitar was a Hohner with mile-highaction and terrible intonation. first good guitar was a '62 Gibson SG ( It wasn't a "collectible" then, just a used guitar from a pawnshop) First good acoustic was a Gibson Hummingbird that I still have.
