Default New NFL on CBS toy

Has anyone besides me noticed the new toy with the NFL on CBS? Suddenly they are throwing in camera shots with low depth of focus. It is so cheesy and abrupt it has to be electronically created.

They've been doing that since last year. They're using Sony a7 iv's, I believe. I think it's kind of cool actually. It's not electronic... it's just a large aperture lens.

I'm not sure why, but it was either last year or the year before where they announced they would have Sony A7R IV DSLRs capturing the endzone. Those cameras are using lenses that create a shallow depth of field or "bokeh" as they would call it in the photography/videography/cinematography realm.

I'd have to say it does seem out of place given that most of the game is centered on capturing everything without certain focal points.

Interesting! I usually don't keep up as closely with the video side of broadcast. Between that and the fact that last year we didn't see many games, I guess that is why I missed it last season.

Well it is certainly a technique I've used but I usually was more subtle about it. Of course, it IS the NFL.
