The interior label is also in the wrong position. Fake.

Can you put up a link to the eBay sale, then? I have been loosely looking at J30s for a while and that one doesn't look like any of the ones that I've seen.

I agree. That's a Taylor pick guard. I have removed and replaced the one on my GS Mini and that one is identical.

In the early to mid-1990s, the labels were quite uniformly placed on the treble side of the back. In 1994, the Centennial labels were often centred, and after that, in 1995, and afterwards for a few years, the labels were as shown in the OPs image.
Here's another 1995, for reference. And another: So, no, not fake on the basis of label location. Fred |

I have an original 1995 Gibson Montana J-30. Mine is in the shape of a Hummingbird body not a Slope shoulder. So Based on my guitar:
The guitar in the picture IS NOT anywhere near what I have. The rosette circles are NOT space the same. The fretboard placement in relationship to the sound hole is wrong. The frets are not the same sized and are not of the same age tarnish. The pick guard is wrong. The grade of top wood is terribly cheap as opposed to a real Gibson. My bridge IS belly up Could be several different models I'd RUN! Blues Last edited by BluesBelly; 11-14-2019 at 04:18 PM. |
