We've hit 300 posts. I hope the mods will bend the rule till about 325 which should get us through to 2016. But if not, hey, it's not like I don't know the rules!
I glued the back on the FT-00-N today, and ought to have a picture of the closed box before the sun goes down . . . as it were, since it's rained all day. Here is the back bracing scheme I came up with: |

That seemed to go well!
Mostly the drum quality is not terrifically impressive until the binding is on, closing all the little gaps between the plates and sides, 2-5-1, but in this case I am pleasantly surprised, so yes, you are right. Probably only because of the classical construction, but this box is far more sensitive than I am used to.
If I didn't remember gluing this 6 piece back up, I wouldn't guess that it were one. But knowing as we do, it gives some insight into the 7 brace back, perhaps. It IS a flitch matched set as far as the back and sides are concerned, as you can see here: |

Interesting back bracing Bruce. Incidentally I am working on one now that shares VERY similar back bracing but my floating braces extend to the marriage strip. Please let me know how yours turns out.

I wonder if any of you remember the BRW set I offered for sale here in this thread a while back? Mods didn't think that was a great idea on my part, and they were probably right! This is that set, and how sweet it is.
Here is the bound box sanded about half way and with some sealer on the top to protect it moving forward. |

That's looking beautiful Bruce! I really like the Pernambuco binding against the quartersawn BRW...

I fretted the classical over the holi-daze, sanded it entirely by hand (just for fun), sealed it, porefilled it, and sealed it again. Can't carve the tuner slots yet as I don't have the tuners and don't want to arbitrarily choose the wrong dimensions.

Flamenco Blanco
Being on a bit of a roll here late in what has been a slow year for me, I started another guitar today, my 9th of the year I believe, and my second Nylon strung. I will make this one a Flamenco Blanco, complete with friction tuners. Here are the plates I joined today. The top is Eastern North American White Spruce, and the back and sides are Catalpa from Pennsylvania (I believe) which I got from Otterhound last fall in Woodstock, NY. I have built with Catalpa twice previously and couldn't be more pleased with the results. My previous material grew in California and I harvested it myself, this material is considerably harder and stiffer.

Aside from a small modification I have thought of, the top if the "Blanco" is done and I have made a neck and tail block and glued them on:

I picked up the JZ-16 after the end of the month long stay in the Petaluma Museum's Gallery Show. As local shows go, it is the best I've ever seen and I was honored to have been invited to show with such talent. Here is my guitar in the case with the photography of the shows creator:
