Default Annie's Song by John Denver (cover)

I used to play this song in C on capo 2 but I did not realize until last evening that John Denver actually plays this in D, no capo. I spent a little time figuring out how he played this song this morning, and while I was in the mood I recorded it for this video.

I have always liked this song a lot. I was always very sorry that he and Annie split up. Being married to a successful musician with all the huge demands on his time has to be very hard on the spouse left behind.

I hope you like this. Thanks so much for listening!

- Glenn

Bravo Glenn! This is the 12 string sound that I love, and your vocals are strong and right. Love this.

Glenn, I’ve listened to all of your John Denver songs tonight - all are wonderfully performed. Like others have stated, these songs do bring back good memories and are so easy to listen to. Relatively simple melodies, but some of the best songs are like that.

I always enjoy your singing and your playing - thanks for sharing with us!

Excellent Glenn. I'm a big fan of your 12-string playing, exactly how I think a 12-string should sound.

I also love that song, I've been working on a fingerstyle version for a while, I'll try and get my act together and record it....

Thanks very much Mr Picky!

It's great to hear from you! I'm very glad you like this rendition! I do agree that this particular John Denver song really does make a good 12-string sound like a 12-string should. All those bass runs on the octave strings sound so good to my ears.

I'll look forward to hearing your fingerstyle version of this song!

Bravo, as always Glenn!

You hit a nerve with this one. One of my best friends, the guy that pulled me into the guitar when we were young, used to do this one. It was one of his signature cover tunes. He was a great talent - beautiful voice and excellent player. Unfortunately, he was haunted by the demon that haunts so many musicians who make the bar their office... He's still with us, but it's taken a toll on his abilities. So sad.

Hi Marty!

Thanks for your comments -- I'm glad you liked this rendition! I am sorry to hear about your friend's battle with alcohol. That is tough to watch. I hope you are doing well!

Nice work Glenn.
Lee and I are considering adding this one to our live performance catalog.
