Sorry about your loss! I'm sure your brother will be proud of this soon to be beauty! I love the woods you have chosen and can't wait to see this baby finished. Once again all the best to you, you courageous man!!!

I know you said your inlay theme would have to do with surfing and I figured I'd give you a suggestion(though I doubt you need it), what about having some kind of hawaiin/exotic inlay with a sandy beach and surfboard? Once again I can't wait to watch this beauty come along.

Hey Keith, I was thinking about your first idea of "Endless Summer", and that actually might be a relatively easy inlay to do on the headstock...

Basically four different woods, one for the sky, one for the beach, one for the sun and one for the figures. If you keep to the color scheme of the movie poster, I would think maybe Pink Ivory for the sky, maple for the sun, koa or osage orange for the beach and ebony for the figures, shadows, etc.

Just a thought....Aloha, Hen

Thanks for the suggestions...kind of embracing that surf hut/old longboard with pretty much natural materials look....probably wooden inlays. Just kind of like that old surfboard look.

That wood is so killer!

I am very excited about the theme of this build....and the symbolism. I have told my Wife but nobody else. I am sure my Mom is going to be blown away by it. She is very broken up about the loss of my brother.

Here is my brother and two of my children a few years ago (My Son is now 19 so I guess it was more than a few):

Despite being impatient.....works both ways...I make my decisions quick, pick my materials promptly and am immediately ready to roll. And then showing up with the check, I am good about that too!

Well there is the pressure that would exist knowing it was going to be in celebration of someone very special to me...and also going into a heard of killer Martin, Ryan and Olson guitars....oh well, that is the luthier's self induced pressure...that is okay with me!

Getting there....I think this is our fingerboard...tell me that doesn't look some tasty waves....with the sapwood sky.

Headstock is pretty close...materials we are working on....

Kind of ties in with the official name of this build.........

Last Wave...

Very sorry about loss also.

I know your new guitar will allow you to express your emotions in a very healing way.

It's truely lovely.
