NGD - Martin 000-18 (2017)
After all kinds of crazy hijinx from FedEx, this beautiful Martin 000-18 made it to NH from Oregon, bought right here on AGF.
It is so great to have an 18-series Martin back in the house. The understated elegance of the series in general and this guitar in particular take my breath away. I haven't been able to spend a lot of time with it, but I will say that my first impression was how light this is. Sound-wise, she projects really well with a really lush sound. Great note-to-note separation. Very comfortable to play up and down the neck. I am really hoping I have a lifetime guitar here. Thanks to everyone who helped with information and suggestions. Here are a couple photos: George

Beautiful guitar George.
I bought a used 000 18 in 1972--the first one I ever saw up close. Didn't know what it was, just that it said Martin and sounded good to my ears and played wonderfully (didn't know anything about scale length either). Back then, most guitars around here were dreadnoughts, LGs, or round shouldered. I have a couple now--and the only reason I ain't bought the new iteration like yours is that the rule in this house is one-in, one-out, and I haven't figured out which goes out.

When you're satisfied with what you have, parting with one becomes difficult. Nice how having what is "right" in your eyes makes you want to play more. George

That video of yours really helped. Surprisingly, there aren't a lot of video of the redesigned Standard series online. George

George, I'm glad to see you got your 000-18...
I got mine a few months ago, and everything about it continues to delight me...I have a few other guitars, but I'm fairly certain this one will go the long run with me... Congrats!

I had a really good deal on a used but well cared for D-28 so I took it. Its nice. But if a deal came around on a D/000 18 series I would take it and sell the 28. They have excellent tone. Good find!!

Yeah...it's kinda funny. I think I'm more partial to the rosewood models (Style 28 especially) and when I play an 18 it just has that something that satisfies? I own both and go back and forth between them but I really think the 18's are my favorite?
