Thanks Neon, I just watched the video and it makes sense. Similar to Taylor's BTO program.

I was playing a used late '90s PRS CE 22 Mahogany with Dragon II pickups tonight at the guitar shop. It was fantastic. I then A/B'd it with a new S2. I definitely preferred the Dragon II pickups. Thinking I may need to go back tomorrow and buy the CE.

I am a little late to the party. Been hanging out in other parts of the site. Never really thought to check out the electric guitar area on an acoustic guitar forum.
these are my babies. Electrics were where I have spent the majority of my guitar playing life (I now have hearing aids to prove it). PRS's have been my go to guitars for the past 25 years. I am not above tweaking them though. Most of these have Seymour Duncan pickups (mostly modified with magnet swaps etc). Sometimes I wonder if I enjoy playing them or tweaking them more.

I won't show the other 3 walls of the room.
The amps are all 'special'. The boogie combo on top the avatar cabinet is an original Mk11c+ (a legend in its own right), behind the rainsong guitar you will see part of the Boogie Mkv sticking out from under the keyboard. The Boogie with the light on is my current every day amp, Lonestar Special (going through a 2x12 cab loaded with celestion heritage 12-65's. I admit I am a gear hound.

WOW - What a fantastic guitar room!!! I've read comments from lots of PRS owners who have swapped out their pickups for Seymour Duncans (who make great pickups).

My wall now has 1 PRS on it, a 1998 CE 22 that I bought this past week-end. What a sweet playing guitar .

I've always wanted a PRS HBII. Sweet axe.

One of my most versatile guitars. i got Seymour duncan custom shop to wind me humbucking sized p90's with large slugs. That guitar can cover all genres, plus it is super light. If I had to take only one guitar somewhere this would likely be the one I would grab.

Great thing about any electric is that as long as the guitar is a quality built instrument that feel good to you, you can 'fine tune' it with a a pickup swap. Not unlike the guys on the regular acoustic forum endlessly discussing selection of strings. Costs a little more but the end results are more pronounced.

I would LOVE to hear a sound clip of that HBII!

Factory setup is uniformly very good, but I can usually squeeze a little improvement out.

The pickups on the non-US made ones are decent, a little midrange heavier than I prefer but that's just my ear talking. I don't think they fall cleanly into either the Gibson or Fender camp for tone.

The cast bridge/tailpiece usually intonates well, but trying a wound G can be, well, interesting.

Wood choices, fit, and finish are beautifully done across the whole line.

My one dislike is the neck profile. My big mitts most prefer the American Fender shape, with the fatter Gibson necks like the ES-335 I have as a close second. Totally a product of my hand geometry, though. Friend of mine that owns 3 loves the shape over all others.

Overall, very nice guitars.

There is more than one neck shape/size. I'm a big fan of the wide/fat. The closest current shape is pattern regular.

Hey Darwin - I'll post a NGD thread when I get some pics. Probably won't be until early next week though.

I hear ya, Al. I've bought literally a dozen pickups for my guitars to experiment and have fun with (almost all SD or DiMarzio, with a couple of Fender as well).

Has anyone played either--or both--SE 277s (baritones: one with F-hole and P90s, one solid body with HBs). I wasn't super-fond of the Mushok sig baritone, but I'd like to try the "baritone thing" again so as to see if (with a nod to George Costello) it wasn't the guitar; it was me.
If you have played either or both SE277s, I would appreciate your insights.
