I've started to get an itch for an electric and have pretty much zero'd in on PRS.
They look great, sound really good (at least in the videos) and are pretty affordable.
I'm going to go play a few soon to see what feels better to me. I guess the 245's have a fatter neck and the 22's a thinner one.
This thread isn't helping my GAS much.

I thought 245s are only SE now. Are you looking at USA PRS or SE?

I love a lot of the PRS models but suggest looking at Collings if you want short scale options with same tremendous build quality. Both makes have the same sort of tremendous attention to detail.

My apologies if I've missed there's a USA 245. I think a Santana is short scale. IIRC, the discontinued Single Cut series had a 245 short scale.

I've had 11 different USA prs'i. Just received a SE 277 Baritone from Indonesia. Their foreign made guitars are excellent!

I watched the price drop on a gold top with soap bars in my local shop. When I was ready to take the plunge, someone beat me to it.

Used prices remain steady around $3.2 k.

Dave's might be the gold mine some of you are looking for. 214 PRS electrics as of this AM around 1/2 used and around 20 PRS acoustics.

150 ft from a Mississippi River slough might not be a convenient visit for many but they ship all over and have some of the world's top musicians and bands as customers.

Dave's is really a museum upstairs and downstairs is a guitar shop beyond what many can imagine. I'm speaking of the original La Crosse store.

I'm just looking at SE's since I will probably still play acoustic 80% of the time.
I want something not very expensive to fool around on.

There are some great SEs out there. Don't ignore the used market.

It’s recently had the frets reconditioned and got a new setup. Still going strong after sixteen years. Lots of praise for PRS from the repairman. Well made, easy to work on.

Way back when I bought it, one of the salesmen was quite sad to see it leave the store. I had a friend who had worked in a different location, so instead of getting it through him via having it shipped to his store, I asked that my friend get half the credit for the sale, which they agreed to do for him.

I’d like to take it easy on this one and keep it in as original condition as possible. Would really like to add the piezo Custom 24, but wow, $4400 +. I’ve discovered over the years there are certain PRS aficionados that love that particular period. Somehow they know what it is based on the design of the bird inlays.

I am looking for the double cut gold top with soap bar pickups. Missed one locally. They are scarce and the used market is empty right now.

I don't look at Dave's inventory all the time but will keep that in mind. Try searching "gold".

There might be larger PRS dealers but it seems like Dave's usually has either side of 200 PRS guitars on hand.

I checked out Dave’s. No double cuts. The only one I found is at an on line dealer who will remain unnamed for the time being. It is NOS with a $3795 price tag. If it were used, it would be around $1750.

Don't overlook SE models, especially if you don't want to spend thousands on a PRS. The SE models are very well made guitars and sound great.

I lucked into a used PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow with wide/fat neck and P90 pickups at a pawn shop for $350 or so (it was listed on eBay!). I was on the hunt for a P90 guitar!

The fretboard was absolutely filthy. But I knew that I could restore that from grime to sweet, and the price was right.

I switched the pup covers from fugly cream to black and never looked back.

Awesome, light-weight, great playing, and great sounding guitar!

I've added three more P90 guitars in the meantime - amazing sounding pickups.

This Les Paul Jr. Special

This Epiphone Elitist Japanese Casino

And, quite surprisingly, one of my most favorite electric guitars, this Epiphone ES-339 Pro P90 (my least expensive guitar which amazingly equals my guitars which are 5x-6x the price, in terms of playability and tone!)

Found what I was looking for on Reverb. Owner knocked 10% off the price. It's a 2002;model. I will play it and decide if I will replace the pickups. I am interested in Lollar gold foil or Harmonic Design Z90s.

DHart, I keep toying with the idea of a PRS SE Custom with P90's or a Casino. Seeing as you show both, how does the sound compare between the 2. Thanks.
